Truck drivers are challenged by restaurant closures and coffee spots that require all customers to use a drive-thru lane only and/or refusing drivers who park their trucks entry to place a take-out order and use the washrooms.
A group of concerned citizens in Kamloops, including BCTA Board member Greg Munden, worked together to arrange for a food truck trial at the Chevron Commercial Cardlock on Versatile Avenue, to be rolled out at locations in Abbotsford and Chilliwack as well. If this launch is successful, there's potential for food truck services at card locks in other BC communities.
In Kamloops, Cookshack Cravings will be at the card lock April 4 & 5 from 6:30 am to early evening, offering meals, snacks and drinks for takeout. Staff manning the food truck will be wearing gloves and masks, following health & safety protocols to keep everyone safe. There will also be Porta-Potties on-site for truck drivers.
Following this weekend's launch, we'll be looking at potentially expanding food truck services to more card lock locations in BC. Please share this information and check back for updates!
